Deep Season Veggie Harvest
Here’s a note from the Friends of the Pawtuxet about Saturday’s market:

At Saturday’s market, Tammy Watson of Mazie’s Organics will demonstrate how to make vegetable wraps with her specially made cashew cheese. Her demonstration, with vegetables from our farmers, will begin at 10 AM. This is the third in a series of cooking demonstrations. Kany Xiong will be next on August 21.

Pawtuxet Village Farmers’ Market
Rhodes on the Pawtuxet
Cranston, RI
9am – 12pm
Saturdays through Nov. 20

August is a good time to “eat in season”. This month, farmers have a lot of cucumbers, green beans, squash and tomatoes to sell, so plan your menu using those ingredients. It’s not the time to make a spinach salad because it is too hot locally to grow spinach. Any spinach you purchase will be shipped long distances or grown in a greenhouse. By eating green beans or cucumber in August, you help our farmers by buying what they grow, when they grow it. Save that spinach salad idea for the fall.

See you Saturday at the market.
