Deep Season Veggie Harvest
Here’s a note from the Friends of the Pawtuxet about Saturday’s farmers’ market and other upcoming events:

Eggplant & Pot Luck

Pawtuxet Village Farmers’ Market
Rhodes on the Pawtuxet
Cranston, RI
9am – 12pm
Saturdays through Nov. 20

Saturday is another big day at the Pawtuxet Village Farmers Market with the great fall harvest and a potluck dinner. This summer, although hot, has been wonderful for vegetables and they will all be available, from peaches to tomatoes to sweet corn, Saturday at the market. Consider buying extra to freeze or can. You will be pleased with yourself this winter and you will help farmers enjoy the financial benefits of a successful growing season.

The market will also hold an end of summer pot luck picnic Saturday September 18 at 5 PM at the Aspray Boathouse in Pawtuxet Park on the Warwick side of the river in Pawtuxet Village. Bring your favorite dish (hopefully made with ingredients from the farmers market) and share a meal with our farmers and your fellow customers. Acoustic music will be provided by Alice and Ned Pace-Quist. Children and friends are welcome.

River Restoration Meeting

Monday September 20 removal of the dam at the bridge in Pawtuxet Village will be discussed at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet. The Pawtuxet River Authority is preparing a wetlands alteration application to remove the dam to allow migratory fish to spawn in the river and restore the river ecology. The open public meeting will be from 7 PM to 9 PM.

Composting

Elizabeth Coombs’ composting workshop will be Saturday September 25 at the market. Sign up at the market table or email .

See you at the market.
