Residents of Auburn and Eden Park have been waiting to see what type of retail establishment would take over the space in Rolfe Square occupied for decades by the beloved Nayco (and before that, Woolworth’s) and whether it would be a worthy successor to Nayco. Of course, to many Nayco loyalists, there can be no replacement. But the new 99 Marketplace will help fill the niche of the traditional “five and dime” emporium. This family-run store sells everything from clothing to housewares to food to toys, all at prices ending with 99. In addition to the usual items, 99 Marketplace offers a selection of unique giftware and housewares from China.
We are fortunate to have a cluster of small businesses in Rolfe Square. I hope that the new 99 Marketplace will succeed and at the same time bring more traffic to its neighbors.

I noticed they had opened when I passed by on #22. Nice pic – I wish them all the best…
